Hula Festival & Educational Challenge 2014
 Workshop information:
Friday morning Ni'ihau shell workshop: Participants will have the opportunity to create a bracelet and or/earrings to take home from Ni’ihau shells that were hand gathered by the Kanahele family on the island of Ni’ihau. The cost of this workshop is $85 for the bracelet and $70 for the earrings in Pikake style and $115 for the bracelet and $90 for the earrings in the Roselani style. Participant may choose any combination. 
Friday afternoon hula workshop: Kumu Kele will build on the inspiration from the morning workshop and share a hula involving the Ni’ihau shells. Often times the participants in these workshops are given the opportunity to present what they have learned later in the day! Fee for the afternoon Ni’ihau Shell Hula workshop alone is $45 or $25 if combined with the Friday morning workshop.
Saturday morning: hula workshop with Loea Kawaikapuokalani Hewett or ukulele workshop the Kumu Rolinda Bean is $45 per participant.

January 24 & 25, 2014
Sheraton Kona Resort & Spa at Keauhou Bay

9am: Ni'ihau shell bracelet and/or earrings workshop with Kumu Kele Kanahele
1pm: A Ni'ihau shell inspired hula workshop with Kumu Kele
4pm: Makuahine and Makuakane Challenge Presentations &
Kupuna Challenge Presentations
7pm: Aunty Diana Aki-the Songbird of Miloli'i
The Ladies of Waiku'i with KonaBob

9am: Hula workshop with Loea Kawaikapuokalani Hewett featuring his song 
E 'ike i ka nani o Hopoe
9am: Ukulele workshop with Kumu Rolinda Bean also featuring the song 
E 'ike i ka nani o Hopoe
At the conclusion of the workshops, the two groups will combine and practice together. 
1pm: Keikamahine, Wahine, Keiki Kane and Kane Challenge Presentations 
7pm: Lei'ohu Ryder and Maydeen Iao

Evening musical entertainment on Friday and Saturday is open  for everyone to enjoy – tickets will be available at the door for a $10 donation, 
which helps support the festival.
